Gil Ferrão, Rolling Art (detail), plaster, acrylic, aluminum, iron, 2019.
The title of this performative sculpture brings us to the idea of something that is done during a voyage. “Fazer o Caminho que se Faz Fazendo” (doing the way you do, doing it) by the artist Gil Ferrão, is an artistic work that has origin in the performative sense of a trail that will be done through the paths of the historic center of Torres Vedras. In this way, dialectical strategies are created to approach the local community so that we can question and redefine our relationship with the public space as citizens. The construction of the performative sculpture will result from the agglomeration of objects that will be collected by the artist on the streets for 4 days at New Invasions Festival. The relational side of this project is a central point in the creative development of a work that is being built assuming the city as a flow of memories of the population that inhabits it through its objects. The result of this performative sculpture will be presented at Praça da Batata at the end of this event.
The creation process of Gil Ferrão’s performing sculpture on the first day of the festival, August 29th, starts at 17h and ends at 24h. In the remaining 30, 31 August from 10h to 18h. The final result is presented on 1st September at 16:30.
