Portuguese Emerging Art 2023

O lançamento contou com a presença do júri de seleção constituído por Emília Ferreira, Leonor Lloret e Pedro Calapez no dia 17 de Novembro de 2023 às 18h no Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea.

O livro Portuguese Emerging Art 2023 (PEA’23), editado pela EMERGE– Associação Cultural, teve o seu lançamento a 17 de Novembro às 18h no Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea (MNAC), em Lisboa. Na sua 5ª edição, o livro é composto pelo trabalho de 19 artistas nacionais e artistas residentes em Portugal. As obras foram selecionadas por um júri composto pela historiadora de arte e diretora do MNAC Emília Ferreira, a gestora cultural luso-espanhola Leonor Lloret e pelo artista Pedro Calapez, com coordenação editorial de Daniela Ambrósio.

Após uma paragem de dois anos, a EMERGE faz uma nova edição desta publicação anual, criada em 2016, com o intuito de promover o trabalho dos artistas portugueses emergentes, dentro e fora de Portugal. Esta promoção é levada a cabo com o apoio de instituições que reforçam e legitimam o trabalho de seleção feito por um júri convidado, diferente em cada edição. Além disso, todos os anos o livro é lançado numa instituição ou evento cultural com relevância. Em 2023, tivemos o prazer de retomar ao Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea para o lançamento do livro PEA’23, um parceiro fundamental que nos tem recebido sempre de portas abertas em diversas ocasiões.

Todas as edições têm ISBN e são distribuídas em bibliotecas de arte, livrarias especializadas e para os principais museus de arte contemporânea e de programação de arte emergente. O impacto deste projeto resulta em mais oportunidades de exposição, encomendas e/ou compra de obra através das pontes criadas entre os artistas e os diferentes agentes culturais que assumem o livro como ferramenta de trabalho.

The book “Portuguese Emerging Art 2023” (PEA’23), edited by EMERGE – Cultural Association, will be launched on November 17th at 6:00 PM at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC) in Lisbon. In its 5th edition, the book features the work of 19 national artists and artists residing in Portugal. The artworks were selected by a jury composed of art historian and MNAC director Emília Ferreira, Portuguese-Spanish cultural manager Leonor Lloret, and artist Pedro Calapez, with editorial coordination by Daniela Ambrósio.

After a two-year hiatus, EMERGE is releasing a new edition of this annual publication, created in 2016 with the aim of promoting the work of emerging Portuguese artists, After a two-year hiatus, EMERGE is releasing a new edition of this annual publication, created in 2016 with the aim of promoting the work of emerging Portuguese artists, both within and outside of Portugal, as well as artists who have been residing in Portugal for over three years. This promotion is carried out with the support of institutions that reinforce and legitimize the selection process conducted by an invited jury, which changes with each edition. Furthermore, every year, the book is launched at a relevant institution or cultural event. In 2023, we were pleased return to the National Museum of Contemporary Art for the launch of PEA’23 book, a fundamental partner that has always welcomed us with open arms on various occasions.

All editions have ISBNs and are distributed to art libraries, specialized bookstores, and major museums of contemporary art and emerging art programming. The impact of this project results in more exhibition opportunities, commissions, and/or artwork purchases, thanks to the connections created between the artists and various cultural agents who view the book as a valuable tool.
